Client stories

What traders noticed after working breakouts and retests with a coach — including the friction that remained.

“I used to buy the first green candle above resistance on CBA. The intensive forced me to wait for the retest and write the stop before the entry. Fill quality improved; boredom increased, which I needed.”

“The chart clinic on AUDUSD stopped me treating every wick as a retest. We redrew the range twice before the level made sense. I still hesitate on London open, though — that part is on me.”

Priya N. · FX discretionary · Clinic client

“Structure lab evenings were blunt. Hearing three other people mark the same iron ore chart differently showed how loose my break definition was. Worth the commute from Parramatta.”

Daniel K. · Commodities-focused · Lab participant

“Coaching did not fix my over-sizing overnight. It did give me a written invalidation line I could point to when I wanted to move the stop. That alone cut two revenge trades last month.”

Longer note: iron ore break that kept failing

A lab participant brought four consecutive long attempts above a well-watched consolidation on a major miner. Each break printed volume, then price folded back into the range within two sessions. Together the group marked the true supply shelf a few cents higher than his original line and listed three conditions for a retest entry: close back above the shelf, declining sell volume on the return, and a stop beneath the last higher low inside the range. He skipped the next two noisy breaks and took the third only after the retest held — still a scratch trade, but without the earlier full-size losses. The lesson he wrote for the desk: “The break was never the trade; the retest was, and I had been early every time.”
